Within the scope of Article 16 of the Law on Protection of Personal Data, which was published in the Official Gazette on 7 April 2016, real persons and legal entities who process personal data must register with the Data Controllers’ Registry (VERBIS) before they start processing the data.
According to the decision of the Personal Data Protection Board, decision numbered 2018/88, the registration date of the real persons and legal entities who will process data to VERBIS is as follows and the data responsible must complete the registration by 30 September 2019 at the latest;
- Real persons or legal entities’ data controllers that have more than 50 employees in a year or an annual balance sheet above TRY 25 million (approx. USD 4 million) and
- Data controllers residing outside of Turkey.
