According to the “Electricity Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (“EPDK”) for July, 25.2 percent of licensed electricity generation was from hydroelectric power plants, 24.1 percent from natural gas power plants, 21.9 percent from imported coal and 12.4 percent from lignite power plants. These sources were followed by wind, geothermal, biomass, hard coal, asphaltite, solar and fuel oil, respectively.

Total licensed electricity generation decreased by 0.4 percent in July compared to the same month of the previous year and fell to 27 million 462 thousand 290 megawatt hours.

According to EPDK’s “Liquefied Petroleum Gases Market Sector Report” for July, the countries where the refinery and distributor license holders made the most LPG import were the USA, Algeria, Norway, Kazakhstan, Spain, Libya, Croatia and Greece. LPG imports increased by 27.5 percent in July compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 358 thousand 186 tons.

During this period, LPG exports made by refinery and distributor license holders increased by 24.6 percent from 4 thousand 588 tons to 5 thousand 716 tons.

LPG production decreased by 14 percent in July to 82 thousand 476 tons.

According to EPDK’s “Oil Market Sector Report,” for July, the crude oil purchases constituting the largest item in Turkey’s total oil imports increased by 7.6 percent reaching 3 million 98 thousand 628 tons.

In this period, the most crude oil imports were made from Iraq with 1 million 41 thousand 66 tons, followed by Russia with 975 million 275 thousand tons and Nigeria with 713 thousand 896 tons. In the said period, diesel imports decreased by 16.5 percent to 850 thousand 622 tons. Aviation and marine fuels, fuel-oil types and other products made up the remaining part of the imports.

Thus, Turkey’s total oil imports increased by 6.1 percent in July compared to the same month of the last year, reaching a total of 4 million 352 thousand 755 tons.

According to EPDK’s “Natural Gas Market Sector Report” for July, approximately 2 billion 601 million cubic meters of imports were carried out through pipelines and 508 million cubic meters through liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.

During this period, natural gas imports through pipelines decreased by 3.10 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while LNG imports fell 11.2 percent.
